The biggest driver of growth in my business - are you doing it too?

One of my fave things I recommend to my clients for PR is collaborations. Their impact can be so powerful in so many different ways. I would go as far as to say they’re the single biggest way I’ve grown my business since I launched two years ago. I’ve spent money on ads, I’ve got some great press coverage, I’ve spoken on and at various things (this is a close second for me), but the thing that’s really helped me build my business is collaborations with the right people where we can elevate each other and “dance on each others’ dance floors”.

Collabs come in all sorts of shapes and sizes; they can be big (product launches, courses, events) but they can also be smaller pieces of activity (insta lives, webinars, blog posts).

Some benefits of collabs include: 

  • Reaching a new audience
  • Giving you credibility and third party endorsement
  • Giving you new marketing content
  • Creating demand for your products of services
  • Keeping things fresh
  • Giving you the chance to experiment and try new things
  • Position you as an expert
  • Creating talkability
  • Bringing in revenue


What to think about before you collaborate:

  • Why/ What do you want to get out of it?
  • How much time do you have to put in?
  • When do you want it to happen?
  • Can you work with the person you want to collaborate with?
  • How much budget (if any) do you have to put in?
  • How much work will it take from both sides?
  • How will the logistics / backend work?

My advice is to not overthink these things - we often hold ourselves back from making an approach to a brand or person we’d love to work with because we’re worried they’ll say no.

But what if they say yes?
